Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the South Windsor Jaycees?

The South Windsor Jaycees is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization comprised of men and women between the ages of 21 and 40. We are part of a larger organization, the Connecticut Jaycees, which is a part of the US Jaycees. The term Jaycee is short for Junior Chamber of Commerce. The South Windsor Jaycees formed in 1992 and since that time have been a force in the community by donating thousands of dollars and serving hundreds of people annually.  Our chapter has been consistently recognized by the Connecticut and United States Jaycees for our achievements!

What's the purpose of the South Windsor Jaycees?

We promote leadership training and the development of personal skills for our members through community involvement. Jaycee members develop new skills and enhance existing ones by becoming involved with our many projects. By becoming involved in organizing projects for the community, members have the opportunity to realize hands-on experience that will ultimately sharpen one's leadership and management skills.

What kind of projects do the South Windsor Jaycees do?

The South Windsor Jaycees are known for their highly successful Businesses Development project the Wapping Fair. They receive equal recognition for their Community Development events like, Breakfast W/Santa, Aquafina, Pitch, Hit & Run, Pet food Drive and other events supporting those in need. The South Windsor Jaycees also run Individual Development projects like Self defense, Financial Investing and other seminars where members learn new skills to enhance their life and their career. The least know about, but most popular events are our socials and family outings. Picnics, ball games, billiards nights, dinner socials and more give members plenty of opportunities to meet other members. Our projects are only limited by our member's imagination. Your project can benefit your chapter, your community or both. You decide!
