We meet once a month at 7:00 pm on the 1st Tuesday at the South Windsor Community Center on Nevers Road in Room 205
What goes on at a general membership meeting?
The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm. Light dinner and beverages are served at all meetings. The Jaycee President facilitates the meeting and follows an agenda. Then we informally go over our upcoming events and announcements. You will have a chance to ask questions. Meetings generall last about an hour. After the meeting boards members are happy to answer any specific questions
Who can come to the membership meetings?
Everyone is welcome to attend our membership meetings. We encourage you to bring friends. The more the merrier.
Do you have to be a member to attend a Jaycee event?
No. Our events are open to everyone. However, if the chapter is offering a discount it would apply to members only
I have another obligation and can't attend membership meetings. Can I still be a member?
Of course. There is no attendance requirement for meetings. We have several events each month and you can participate in as many or as little as you like. We have weekly emails and meetup.com to communicate all our events to members
Do you have to live in South Windsor to be a member?
No. We have members from all over the area.
Is there an age requirement to be a member?
Yes. South Windsor Jaycees members have to be between the ages of 21 and 40.
What happens when you turn 40?
Members can renew their membership until their 41st birthday. You can become an associate member if you are 41 years when it time to renew your membership. You can still participate in events, but are not permitted to be elected to a board position. Initial dues are only $20.
Is there a minimum requirement for participation in events?
No. The Jaycees is a unique organization that does not require participation in events. We have a saying around the Jaycees, "You get out of the organization what you put into it". You decide your level of participation.
What if I am interested in trying something new?
Then propose a project. Our philosophy is to support and encourage the ideas of our members. We will assist in the development of a budget and a plan of action. Members are constantly looking for new challenges and ideas.
How can local businesses or other nonprofits work together with the Jaycees?
The chapter is always looking to team up with businesses in regards to sponsorships or assisting with volunteers at our projects. Contact any of our board members to discuss how your company would like to work with the Jaycees.
How much are membership dues?
$20 to join and $50 for annual renewal. In addition, the chapter offers credits to members that chair projects (or committees on our largest projects Paws in the Park and Wapping Fair) or hold board positions
How do I join the South Windsor Jaycees?
The best way to join is to just come out to an event, meet our members and sign up right there. If you have questions please contact Sharon at membership@swjaycees.org
